About the Workshop Session
This is a full day training course for review of Intrusion Systems, followed by
instructions and hands-on labs on installing and maintaining Snort IDS.
You will have an opportunity to expand your experience with the following topics:
· Introduction to IDS/IPS and Snort Systems
· Installing Snort
· Generating Simple Alerts using default rule set
· Configuring input plugins
· Configuring output filters
· Using Syslog with Snort
· Using SNMP traps for integrating in network management system
· Using MySQL for storing into databases
· Using Base as Web GUI for Snort
· Writing Snort Rules
· Performance tuning
· Alerting and data analysis
Pre-Requisites: Familiarity with TCP/IP networking concepts

About the Instructor:
Rafeeq Rehman
Mr. Rehman has been in the IT industry for 17 years. He has held various positions including IT leadership, information security, networking, start-up organization, IT risk management and providing IT solutions in diverse industry areas. He has also helped various organizations with computer networks for international connections and large scale network services, consulting, strategic planning, business management.
An author of five books and many articles in industry journals, Mr, Rehman
is a well recognized icon in the Information Security arena, and very
well-versed in the IDS/IPS technologies as well as other Information Security topics.
